About Anita Simmons

I have been teaching in the De Queen School District for the last twelve years.  I graduated from Horatio High School.  I attended Cossatot Community College and received an Associates of Art degree.   I graduated from Texas A&M University at Texarkana in 2003 with a Bachelor’s of Interdisciplinary Studies and certification in Preschool to 4th Grade.  I later received my certification for 4th - 8th grade Literacy/Social Studies and Math/Science.  I earned my Master’s degree from Arkansas State University in 2012 in Educational Theory and Practice.  I taught third grade and fifth/sixth grade math at Lockesburg Elementary.

I have been married to Johnny for the last 35 years.  We have 2 children, John who is 26 and Dana (Dan ә  not  Dā na) who is 18.   I live in Lockesburg.  I love to do anything involving my family.  Some of my favorite things to do is camping, fishing, hunting, and reading.

"Learning is finding out what we already know. Doing is demonstrating that you know it. Teaching is reminding others that they know just as well as you. You are all learners, doers, and teachers." -- Richard Bach
